|Abstract:||Performance evaluation of tractor drawn semi-automatic potato planter was carried out at farmers' fields of three villages in Hooghly, the major potato grawing district of West Bengal in India. Field capacity and field efficiency of potato planter was found to be 0.088 ha h(-1) and 67 %, respectively. There was an average 30 % increase in potato yield and a reduction of 30 % seed rate during the mechanised cultivation. Due to mechanization, labour requirement was reduced by 90 % that resulted in 32 % reduction in cost incurred in planting operation.|
