| Abstract: | Ascorbic acid (20.4 g l(-1) in 50 h) was synthesized directly from glucose by Xanthomonas campestris as an adaptive response to induced free-radicals through HOCl treatment. Identity of ascorbic acid was confirmed through IR and NMR spectroscopy. |
