Title: CARBON-SELENIUM BOND-CLEAVAGE IN THE DOUBLE BUTTERFLY COMPLEX [((CO)6FE2(MU-SE)2)2(C(PH)-C(H))] AND THE SYNTHESIS AND X-RAY STRUCTURAL-ANALYSIS OF ITS DPPE-SUBSTITUTED DERIVATIVE

Abstract: At room temperature, the double butterfly complex [{(CO)6Fe2(mu-Se)2}2(C(Ph)-C(H)] reacted with Pt(C2H4)(PPh3)2 to give [(CO)6Fe2(mu-SeC(Ph)C(H)Se)], [(CO)6Fe2Pt(PPh3)2(mu-SeC(Ph)C(H)Se}] and [(CO)6Fe2(mu3-Se)2Pt(PPh3)2]. It reacted with dppe to form the substituted derivative [{(CO)5Fe2(mu-Se)2}2C(Ph)C(H)(mu-dppe)], which was subjected to an X-ray diffraction analysis. The crystal of [{(CO)5Fe2(mu-Se)2}2C(Ph)C(H)(mu-dppe)] is triclinic with the space group P1BAR, a = 12.969(1), b = 13.032(1), c = 18.669(1) angstrom, alpha = 76.81(1), beta = 72.74(1), gamma = 63.99(1)degrees, Z = 2. The structure was refined by the block-matrix least squares method. The final R and R(w) values were 0.0435 and 0.0492 respectively.
