CP-violating correlations between lepton-charge and jet-charge in Z -> b(b)over-bar events

Abstract

Correlations that signal direct CP violation in the bottom sector are suggested. They need data on Z-->b (b) over bar events which consist of a bottom hadron decay into an exclusive semileptonic channel hlv (where h is a hadron), and the other bottom hadron decay into a multi-body final state that manifests as a jet in the opposite hemisphere. Replacing "hlv" by inclusive lepton decay of bottom hadrons allows mon data. Even then, the signal may be "too small", as crudely estimated. With better future estimates, the suggested experiments may reveal important new Physics. (C) 1998
