Abstract: An algorithm for the construction of optimal compactly supported N-tap orthonormal wavelet for signal denoising is presented. A square norm cost function employing a universal soft-threshold in the wavelet domain is minimized with respect to the parameterized wavelet FIR filter bank coefficients by using the principle of simulated annealing. A few simulation results presented for signal denoising.
