Abstract: The application of the Avrami kinetics to study the evolution of dynamic recrystallization (DRX) in cadmium (Cd) is examined. The study involves compression testing of Cd over a range of temperatures and strain rates and flow curve analysis using a recently developed modeling technique. It is demonstrated that the Avrami relation is suitable to study the progress of DRX in Cd in a manner similar to that in various steels for which the concept was originally developed.
