Abstract: Stepwise addition of phenylacetylene and Pt(PPh3)2 across the Se-Se bond of [Fe2(CO)6(mu-Se2)] can be carried out at room temperature; X-ray analysis demonstrates the acetylenic carbon-carbon bond reduction in the mixed-metal complex [(CO)6Fe2Pt(PPh3)2{mu-SeC(Ph)C(H)Se}].
