Abstract: The gain and noise characteristics of a fiber Brillouin amplifier are studied experimentally and analyzed using a dispersion shifted fiber. Based on these measurements, the optimal conditions of gain and on-off ratio are identified for slow light generation. (C) 2009 Optical Society of America
