Abstract: In this paper we propose an algorithm for 2-D DOA estimation using Beamspace ESPRIT in multi-path propagation environment. Both forward and forward-backward spatial smoothing techniques are suggested to restore the rank of the covariance matrices. Spatial smoothing technique along with Beamspace ESPRIT result in closed form 2D angle estimation, automatically coupling the two components of source direction. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate the validity of proposed algorithm.
