Abstract: Electrical modeling of a planar photonic crystal waveguide is done using a transmission line model. Investigation of a point defect in the waveguide shows that a point defect can be inductive or capacitive. Depending upon the size and refractive index of the defect, a wide reactance range can be obtained.
