Abstract: We consider the phase transition in the electroweak theory with two Higgs doublets in the presence of preexisting cosmic strings. The correction to the effective action coming from the triangle diagram consisting of one vector and two scalar legs is calculated. This correction biases the Chern-Simons number which in turn generates a baryon asymmetry which we estimate to be similar to 10(-10) - 10(-12).
