Abstract: The structural and magnetic properties of Er1-xDyxTiCo11 compounds with 0 <= x <= 1 have been studied to find out their suitability as permanent magnet materials. Crystal structure was analyzed using the Rietveld refinement of the powder x-ray diffractograms. Thermomagnetic analysis showed that the spin reorientation transitions shift to lower temperatures with increase in Dy concentration, which has been attributed to the increase in the axial anisotropy of these compounds. The magnetic properties have been explained by taking into account the structural details. (c) 2005 American Institute of Physics.
